A Message from the Club President

Fellow Rotarians:

One past Rotary International President said: "I am here because Rotary takes ordinary people and gives them extraordinary opportunities to do more with their lives than they ever dreamed possible." We are all Rotarians and we have before us this year those very same extradinary opportunities in Walnut Valley.

The RI theme this year is "Make Dreams Real".  And yes, I have a dream.  I have THREE dreams.

1. Rotary awareness in our community- Walnut Valley Rotary is one of the best kept secrets in our community.  We support of a lot of activities on a "one on one basis" and only we and the recipients know of those activities.  We have to educate and involve the community in our dreams.  The 5 committies and the Board will rise to this challenge and make this dream a reality with PolioPlus and other activities.
2. Inclusion of Seniors in our community service activities- Seniors in our community are the truly neglected part of our community.  They are looked upon as relics of the past waiting for the inevitable.  They bear their hardship and agony in silence, too ashamed and too proud to ask for help.  This, too, has to change.  The 5 committies and the Board will rise to this challenge and make this dream a reality by devising projects to help our local Seniors.
3. Active membership participation - It is both a humbling and a rejuvenating experience to make a difference in people's lives.  Thanks to Rotary, I have been blessed with those experiences when I witnessed the restoration of eyesight to an elderly man at the Eye Clinic in India, and again, when I helped provide a dwelling to an underprivledged family in Tecate, Mexico through our Corozon project.  You know, you only get from an institution what you put into it and I now dream that everyone in Walnut Valley Rotary will be blessed with these experiences.  To realize such experiences for yourself, actively participate in the Rotary Ideals, be involved in your club and discover YOUR Eye Clinic and YOUR Corazon.
